Re: Clijsters out of Olympics

IMO, the olympics should be about bringing together the very best athletes
in the world in fair competition. No political or economic factors should
be allowed to bias that. When it comes to team membership the only thing
should matter is athletic skill as demonstrated through a fair qualifying
process.

As you ably demonstrated in so many other threads (pro tour subsidies, tennis tactics, wood vs composite racket, $45 hotel rooms, ad infinitum) you are clearly overmatched when reason intrudes in your little fantasy world. This is only the latest example, and it is singularly stunning in its clarity.

Political factors? How about the very idea that teams from various NATIONS participate. That's politics. (Or did you think the countries were set by a higher power?) The CORE of the olympics is politics.

Economic factors? How about the fact that the olympics are big business? Billions and billions of dollars are run through the olympic spectacle every two years. The Queen to King Politics is economics.

You are so incredibly naive, but it is not your greatest fault.
