Of course Graf had to handle the situation psychologically. She was probably
initially shocked just like all the other players were. That put some stress
on her, and the other players. But, to compare that middling psychological
stress to the *competitive fact* of Seles's absence is absurd. The stress
factor might rate as hurting her ability by - 5%, but not having Seles in
the draw improved her chances by +100%.

Which explains why Graf - who had won 4 slams in the previous 45 months,
suddenly won 4 slams over the next 8 months.

This is obvious... i should check myself into a loony bin for bothering to
argue it...
