I posted this yesterday but haven't seen it on the group. So if it's redundant, I apologize. Anyways, I created a web page of pictures of hackett and phelps swimming side by side. It's at: www.geocities.com/ekurth99 just click on the link labelled hackett_phelps. I was going to annotate the pictures with notes about various things I observe. But maybe another time. The point is to show how much these two men swim the same in terms of what their arms and legs are doing throughout virtually the whole swim cycle. And I think the pictures speak loudly all by themselves for that. I cannot find video of elite male swimmers with big kicks who do not swim this way. VDH, Thorpe, Brembillo, it's all slight variations on the theme that Hackett and Phelps present. Same 6-beat pattern for the legs, and same pattern for the arms - "catch-up" stroke while breathing, "kayak" on the other side. Eric
