Face Mask

When ASA voted on the face masks on batters helmets, was there any
discussion concerning head first sliding? When aggressive players dive
and slide head first the face mask CAN catch on the infield ground
causing a quick snap of the neck. A few years ago a youth baseball
league adopted the face mask policy. After several cervical spine
injuries the league enacted a emergency NO head first slide rule.
