Queens grab Robertson

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/q/queen_of_the_south/3287453.stm

Queen of the South are hoping to sign goalkeeping nomad Kris Robertson
- and he will be in their squad to face former club St Mirren on
Wednesday.

Queens manager John Connolly has been wanting to bring someone in as
competition for present first-choice John Dodds.

And he has moved to secure Robertson following his departure from
Aberdeen this week.

He will be included at least as a trialist as Queens aim for the
victory that would take them back to the top of the Scottish First
Division.

Connolly will hope to persuade Robertson to stay at Palmerston Park
long-term instead of pursuing his goal of going to English clubs on
trial during the January transfer window.

It was his desire to try to win a move to English football that led
Robertson to reject a new contract offer from St Mirren during the
summer and then turn down an offer from Dumbarton after turning out as
a trialist for the Second Division outfit.

Robertson signed a short-term deal at Pittodrie as cover for Ryan
Esson, but the Aberdeen reserve goalkeeper has now returned from
injury.

Meanwhile, Queens have released striker Craig Coates and midfielder
Tony Ross, neither of whom have been involved in Connolly's first-team
plans.
