The penalty on Nesta holding Kluivert(?) was a bit harsh, but that can be called bad defending, since a good defender would know not to risk a penalty in those circumstances if the ref tends to call those fouls. If the ref ignores those fouls, then go ahead and hold the opponents' shirt however much you like. However, the second penalty (Iuliano tripping Davids) was certainly due to bad defending by Iuliano who was beaten too easily. At most you can argue that, given that Davids had gone by, tripping him was a good defensive move by Iuliano, as giving up a penalty in that circumstance was the lower risk option. Zambrotta's red card was also bad defending. He already had a yellow, got beaten, and made an unnecessary foul, leaving the team in 10 men. The rest of the defensive performance was stellar. But you do realize that we're arguing about semantics. Daniele
