Arsenal 5-1 Wolverhampton

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/league_cup/3246940.stm

Arsenal turned on the style to send Wolverhampton crashing out of the
Carling Cup.

Jeremie Aliadiere grabbed a brace, while Nwankwo Kanu, Sylvain Wiltord
and Cesc Fabregas were also on target.

Alex Rae scored a late consolation for Wolves in the fourth round
clash at Highbury.

But it was a disappointing night for Dave Jones' side who found
themselves outclassed by their young, inexperienced opponents.

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger had packed his side full of youth with
seven players numbering only 13 first team appearances between them.

But lack of first team experience seemed not to bother the Gunners,
who dominated from the outset.

Kanu had several early chances, baffling the Wolves defenders with his
mazy runs into the box.

But it was his French strike partner who grabbed the first goal,
pouncing on a Lee Naylor backpass in the 24th minute.

Wolves provided little threat to the Arsenal goal, with striker Kenny
Miller suffering from a lack of service from the rattled midfield.

Kanu finally got the goal he deserved in the 67th minute, slotting
Wiltord's cross past on-loan goalkeeper Andy Marshall.

Aliadiere added another, just three minutes later after an assist from
Kanu, to take his season's tally to three goals.

With their place in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup practically
assured, Wiltord scored Arsenal's fourth of the night in the 79th
minute.

But Rae restored some pride in his beleaguered side, blasting home
Wolves' only goal over a minute later.

In the 88th minute, 16-year-old Fabregas completed the rout and became
the youngest player to score for Arsenal in a first-team game.
