As my boots are a tiny bit too big in the heel i always went for the thick socks, then one day the thick socks were bulging in the instep and i couldn't sort them out and they kept hurting so i took them off and skated bare foot...the differnce was huge - i could really feel what i was doing through the bottom of the boot and it felt like someone had taken the blind fold off. I then started skating with really thin socks on but after while my foot hurts and i find i don't have enough padding around the ankle. Swings and roundabouts...i'm currently skating with thin socks but i get the socks i've put holes in and cut the foot part off and just put a couple of pairs of these footless socks on around the ankle (particularly) the landing ankle for extra padding and that has worked quite well for a while.
