The need for speed? YOU WILL!!! THE SAN FRANCISCO FALL GRAVITY FESTIVAL Before we let the summer of 2003 roll off into the sunset, the California Outdoor Rollerskating Association will present the San Francisco Fall Gravity Festival. This event involves Extreme Downhill Racing featuring the world's top professional racers in downhill inline skating, downhill skateboard, buttboard, street luge and gravity speed bike. Racers will reach speeds of over 60 miles per hour on the steep, half mile course. The event is being presented by the California Outdoor Rollerskating Association and is sanctioned by the IGSA (International Gravity Sports Association). Participants have been racing throughout the spring and summer in a national points series that began in the rain in San Francisco last May. This event will establish the Gravity Sports National Champions the different categories of downhill racing. The S.F. Gravity Festival is a 3 day event that will take place from Fri. Sept. 19 to Sun. Sept. 21. The races will be held on a ½ mile closed downhill course on John F. Shelley Drive in San Francisco's McLaren Park. Practice begins on Friday, Sept. 19 from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. There will be practice on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Qualifying is on Sat. Sept. 20 from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. with racing on Sun. Sept. 21 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Local inline skaters like S.F.'s Bruce Stevenson and Oakland's Robert Wurgaft are looking to take top honors in the inline portion of the event. Some of the nations top Freestyle and Slalom Skateboarders will be on hand to thrill the audience with their daredevil skills. Speed Racing legend Ron Cook of Pure Guts will be on hand displaying his Guinness World Record Setting Motorcycle, which he crashed at 200 mph and survived! (seen on TV worldwide) This exhibit will bring out other Pure Guts stories of everyday people pushing their limits to succeed against the odds.
