I friend of mine recently wanted to get a benchmark on a popular downhill run. This particular run has been measured numerous times with GPS and by paceing with a bicycle. It's good for 30+ mph without significant effort. My friend went all out on his run but the GPS measured a max speed of 17mph. The most likely explanation is that the unit lost contact with the satellites only recovered in time for the run out at the bottom. -- Use the From: header.
