I tried on both years skates and looked at the bearings and wheels.
They both had 80mm 80a and 688 micro bearings, not the 698's. Between
my wife and myself, we have had 3 pairs of skates with the 698's. They
worked fine for us, the bearings are no Swiss Gems by any means, but
were fine for almost all Joe skaters like myself. The biggest gripe
for me was that they were true odd-balls when trying buy wheels. You
sure didnt have the selection of wheels that you do with the 608's. I
eventualy replaced them with 608's.
