Actually, I was referring to the Oshman's that you got your skates at. Another place to look would be skate board shops. Some carry skates also. We (Minneapolis / St Paul) have many skate shops here but most of them have ice skates without inlines, lots of hockey and some figure. We have two traditional shops that carry higher end inlines. One is primarily a skateboard shop and the other also carries skis and ice skates. That shop even carries some Bont ice skates but asked me who they should send people who wanted custom Bonts. There are a couple other shops that are primarily ice skate shops but carry some hockey and mid level rec inlines. We have two skaters who have gone into the mail order business locally. Adam (www.adamsinline.com/) is a racer who specializes in speed skates, including customs. Roller Bob (www.rollerbob.com/) is a fast fitness skater who started out selling wheels and bearings much cheaper than the stores but has now branched out by carrying the better lines from Rollerblade. If I wasn't connected to the local skating scene, I probably would only know of one of the traditional shops and be missing out on most of the variety that is hiding around here. Besides pointing you to people who can help you learn to skate, other local skaters may be able to point you to good shops that are hard to find. -- Bill Fuhrmann Remove DELETE to reply
