USFSA just posted the US qualifiers and I went on over to the ISU page to look at the rest. Very interesting lineup. Ladies: 1. Cohen 2. Liashenko 3. Suguri 4. Arakawa 5. Sebeyten 6. Onda 1A. Kirk 2A. Kostner 3A.Poykio First, who would have thought Sebeysten would be in this lineup and Liashenko as well? I find it amazing. I also find it encouraging that Kostner seemed to pull it together in the Sr.'s as I had read she was really struggling. Although, the oddness of this lineup may have to do with the oddities of the new judging system... my final outcome will be....I also wonder with Kirk as the alternate, what has the history been that the alternate ends up going in general at the Final and of this group, anyone stick out as a possible dropout? Men: 1. Plushy 2 BUTTLE 3. WEISS 4. VAN DER PERREN BEL 5. Timothy GOEBEL 6. GAO 1A JOUBERT 2A SANDHU 3A LI Again, who thought Van Der Perren? where did he come from?....and Gao...he's been hanging on in the Jr.'s.... I'm sad however, to see that Joubert did not make it... and LI....very surprising... Pairs: 1. Maria PETROVA / Alexei TIKHONOVR 2.Xue SHEN / Hongbo ZHAO 3.Tatiana TOTMIANINA / Maxim MARININR 4. Dan ZHANG / Hao ZHANG 5. PANG / Jian TONG 6.Anabelle LANGLOIS / Patrice ARCHETTO 1A Dorota ZAGORSKA / Mariusz SIUDEK 2A INOUE / John BALDWIN, 3A WAKAMATSU / Jean-Sebastien FECTEAU Nothing surprising here...other than Inoue and Balwin qualified as high as they did....I'm not a fan and had hoped that Scott and Dulebon would have been in better position.....hmmmm when will we(the USA) have a competitive pairs team?? Dance: 1.Tatiana NAVKA / Roman KOSTOMAROVR 2.Albena DENKOVA / Maxim STAVISKI 3.Tanith BELBIN / Benjamin AGOSTO 4.Elena GRUSHINA / Ruslan GONCHAROV 5. Marie-France DUBREUIL / Patrice LAUZON 6.DELOBEL / Olivier SCHOENFELDER 1A CHAIT / Sergei SAKHNOVSKI 2A i WINKLER / Rene LOHSE 3A Melissa GREGORY / Denis PETUKHOV Oh...this is so fun!.....Chait and Sakhnovski not in the final? tragic!....i'm no expert but I think that this new scoring system has finally put them in their place...and deflated the overkill of these two....Surprised that Gregory and Petukhov placed as high as they did... Heres my question...how realistic is it to think that A. Belbin and Agosto could medal above bronze in this event and B. medal at words?....who is out of commission for the Grand Prix (meaning they didn't skate at all) that beat them at worlds? could they place at worlds????
