The height of the vault is not produced by speeding down the board, or dives which begin from a reverse position could never have good amplitude. The height of the final line up on entry depends in part on the amplitude of the inital vault and in part on the ability to rotate quickly in the air. Since "speed" generally refers to travel over distance, I don't think it's the best term for rotational ability.
