GH, what you have to realise is that Ernest the Australian has a rather large chip on his shoulder about how AB rugby comprises almost exclusively of ring-ins from the Pacific Islands (and somtimes further afield). Anyone with a trace of PI blood in them is 'not a proper NZer and thus ineligible', according to him, no matter how long they or their ancestors have spent in NZ. And the flip side to this is his view that Australia is a wonderfully multi-cultural society which, whilst it generally relies solely on true-blue born-and-bred Australians for its sporting successes, occasionaly permits unfortunates from other nations who have come to Australia to escape persecution in their homelands or have been attracted by the marvellous society that is Australia, to represent them. Once they have passed stringent residency requirements, of course. I think Tiaan Strauss was one of his prime examples. And his agenda for the Caucaunibuca case is that NZRFU have actively worked to get him to abandon Fiji and adopt NZ and that, whilst it may currently be against the rules, the NZRFU is vigorously working to have these rules circumvented. But only in the case of players wanting to play for NZ. The 'well advised' part, he maintains, is advice from the NZRFU. And, no, he wont be providing any proof. HTH Higgsy
