Re: The Structure of the English Competition

I wish to know (and I am sure someone can help me) how English Rugby is
structured?
In that I mean, other than the ZP, what other competitions are there? and do
the ZP clubs have teams in a local competition as well?
Also, do under 19's and 21's have a division with the ZP? or do they play in
the local comp?

Interested to know how it works there

You could check out the ZP web site
Zurich Premiership rugby news, results, fixtures and clubs
Then go to one of the ZP Clubs, say
http://www.london-irish.com/default.ink
This will explain the Zurich "A" League and the RFU/ZP Academy system
Then, finally, the structure below the ZP - the National Leagues, for semi-pro and amateurs - is laid out at

BBC SPORT | Rugby Union | English

There is a lot of rugby played in England, with the RWC squad sitting at the top of a substantial pyramid.  It is a numbers game, and right now England are winning it.  Gone are the days of the good ol' boys and their school ties.  Although there is a good bit of that still around!
