Timing, balance, and touch will get worked on as they practice together. If they can use a speed coach to give objective feedback while practicing, all the better. Each should be feeling as if rowing a nice 1x alone, anything outside that needs work on timing, if they are aware of the other person it is only because there is some fighting going on for the movement of the boat. - Paul Smith
