new knee?

I have a stud with major scar tissue in his left knee which is getting worse
and the vet prognosis is that his knee will semi fuse together.  Well that
puts him out of competition.  any Ideas? He is a quarter horse, about 15
hands and close to 1200 lbs.        thanks
