South Korea is a third world country?  I assume you mean South Korea,
as North Koreans cannot legally leave their country at all (nor are
Americans allowed in).  If you're going by GDP per-capita, than South
Korea is not much more of a third world country than Portugal, and a
hell of a lot less than Eastern Europe.  When you add Purchasing Power
Parity to it, South Koreans make more money on average than people
from Portugal, Greece, Israel, Taiwan, Malta, Saudi Arabia, Turkey,
Russia, or Kuwait as well.
