Lots Of News On WWE Creative Process

Lots of problems backstage with WWE's creative teams...

As reported earlier, WWE has hired two "creative consultants" from
Hollywood. These two will not provide input on actual storylines but will
examine the process by which the creative storylines are come up with (more
or less communication between the creative team).

Many in WWE are starting to worry that Stephanie McMahon brought the two
people in to be "yes" men for her and back up what she wants.

Interestingly enough, a real rivalry has started to brew between the RAW and
Smackdown creative teams. The main RAW writers right now are Michael Hayes,
Brian Gerwirtz, and Ed Koskie. The main Smackdown writers are Tom Prichard,
Dave Lagana, and Dom Pataglia. These writers have recently become protective
of what they feel is their show, not wanting writers from the other brand to
come in and mess it up with their ideas.

To lend support of this, when it became known that Matt Hardy was being
moved to RAW, the Smackdown writers quickly gave up on him and buried him.
This is similar to how a wrestler was treated when he was leaving either WWE
or WCW for the other promotion back during their war.

Another concern regarding the current creative process is that Vince McMahon
has seemingly lost control. McMahon has been so focused on his TV angles
that he has been unable to really take an active hand in monitoring the two
creative teams.

The relationship between the main creative writers and the backstage agents
is also currently strained as many agents are frustrated with their position
on the WWE ladder. WWE agents include Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson, Fit
Finlay, Jack Lanza, and others. The writers are also frustrated with the
agents since they have the power to change what the writer intended via how
they lay out the match and such.
