11.19.03 | Notes From Backstage With Bob Ryder

Viewers watching tonight's broadcast of NWA-TNA: Total Nonstop Action
will see footage of an altercation that took place Monday in the
studios of The Big Show with John Boy & Billy. Jimmy Hart was in
studio with John Boy & Billy when Jeff Jarrett (who was scheduled to
appear in the next hour) showed up to confront Hart over comments he
had just made about Jarrett and Hulk Hogan. What followed was probably
the wildest thing to happen on a live radio program in a long time.
We've got the footage, and we'll air it on tonight's show.

Also tonight, an update on Hulk Hogan's recent surgery, an NWA Tag
Title match between 3 Live Kru and Diamond & Swinger, the finals of
the Triple Chance X Tournament with Sonjay Dutt taking on "X" and
Chris Daniels, Siaki & Ekmo vs Julio Dinero & CM Punk, a Clockwork
Orange House of Fun match pitting Raven and his partners Erik Watts
and Sandman against Don Callis' Redshirts, and AJ Styles vs Abyss.

Speaking of Abyss, did you know he was a member of the Chuck Knoll's
final Pittsburgh Steelers team?

We've been working for the past few weeks on a major project that will
allow fans around the world to view our entire library of shows
online....dating all the way back to the very first show from last
year. More details will be released in the next few days.

TNAbookings.com launched a couple of weeks ago, and in that time
period we have heard from promoters from around the world who have
signed up through the site so they can book TNA talent on their shows.
Several TNA stars appeared this past weekend on a show to benefit the
UVA Childrens Medical Center. The show, held in Waynesboro VA,
featured appearances by Kid Kash, Jerry Lynn, Trinity, Abyss, and
Slash. The event was a huge success with 1400 fans turning out to
watch the action. If you are a promoter and would like to book TNA
stars on your next event, register at TNAbookings.com

It's been almost exactly a year since Jeff Jarrett captured the NWA
World Heavyweight Title for the first time. Jarrett beat Ron "The
Truth" Killings on November 20, 2002 after chasing the title for over
five months. The match is probably best remembered by Vince Russo's
interference on Jarrett's behalf. Russo shocked the entire wrestling
world, including practically everybody watching backstage, when he
showed up to help Jarrett win the title. A year later, Jeff Jarrett is
NWA World Heavyweight Champion again, but Russo is nowhere to be seen
having been chased out of TNA by Jarrett several weeks ago.

Another TNA star celebrating an anniversary this week is Shane
Douglas, who won the NWA World Tag Team Titles on November 18, 1992.
Douglas teamed with Ricky Steamboat to defeat Barry Windham & Dustin
Rhodes. Douglas & Steamboat held the titles for several months before
eventually losing to the team of Steve Austin and Brian Pillman.

Michael Shane has managed to hang onto the X Title since winning it on
August 20 in the Ultimate X match against Frankie Kazarian and Chris
Sabin. If he hangs on for another couple of weeks, he will be able to
lay claim to having the longest title reign of any X Champion. Chris
Sabin held the belt for 98 days, having won the title on May 14, 2003
and holding it until he lost to Shane. Shane has held the belt for 91
days, and his next title defense is scheduled for November 26 when he
meets the winner of the Triple Chance tournament. If he gets past that
challenge, he'll have held the belt longer than anyone.

That's it for this week. I'll be back next week with more Notes From
Backstage. Until then, enjoy the show!
