Rehab update, Crash and more

by Droz
Nov. 10, 2003

First off, I would like to thank everyone who has e-mailed me with all
of your words of encouragement. I have been trying to answer as many
e-mails as I can, but as I said in my last article, they have been
beating on me pretty good, so it's kind of tough to type a lot after
all of the hard work. One of the reasons that it makes it so hard to
type is that I use the side of my finger on my right hand, and have to
type letter by letter. Anyway, therapy is going well, but as I said, I
have been really exhausted. Like I said before, I am doing a lot of
things that I haven't done before, and it's taking its toll.
Hopefully, as time goes on, the pain in my shoulders will subside, at
least a little bit, and let me accomplish my goals.
Not that I really know at this point what my goals really are, but I
do know that being here has already helped me change my mindset and
has made me realize that there are so many more things that I can
accomplish. It has been over four years now, but even in the short
time that I have been here, I have accomplished some things that I
never had really tried before. It's kind of funny, but on Byte This!
on Thursday, I spoke about a young kid named Jeffery, who is on the
same floor that I am. Here is a young kid who has been put in a really
bad situation, and yet he has such a great outlook on things. It is
quite inspiring. We sat around the other night and talked for about an
hour, and I have to say that I believe that he will be up and running
around someday soon. I, for one, am rooting for him and am behind him
all the way. Over the years, there have been so many different
thoughts that have gone through my mind about how to deal with the
situation that I am in, and I am really glad that I finally made the
decision to get my act together and try to make some serious changes.
As I look back, there are so many things that I would do differently
now, but I have already made it a point that there is nothing that I
can do about what I have or haven't done, and I can only look forward
to what I can do in the present and the future. Of course, I will keep
all of you updated on how things are going as the weeks progress.

Now on to a little wrestling ... I, for one, was glad to see Goldberg
show up on RAW Monday night and take care of some unfinished business.

With his body still not healed up from the previous assault, he gave
the fans just what they were looking for ... someone to put Evolution
back in its place. Seeing both Batista and Ric Flair taken down by
this intense competitor was a real treat. Then the announcement came
that Goldberg would be facing Batista on RAW the following week. This
one isn't going to be a pretty match, but we are definitely going to
see power on power at its best. I am looking forward to seeing
Goldberg put him in his place.
For all of you who have been watching SmackDown!, this past Thursday
night, we finally saw the completion of the Team Lesnar. When I saw
the team, consisting of Brock Lesnar, Matt Morgan, Nathan Jones, Big
Show and the final member, A-Train, I was left in a state of awe.
Seeing these five giants in the ring together made me realize that
this business has truly come a long way from years past. Back in the
day, when you had large wrestlers, you rarely saw true athletes. What
we are seeing today are huge, powerful and athletic competitors that
can move around the ring like the smaller competitors of years past. I
have to admit this match is the one I am looking forward to the most,
and I can't wait for the outcome.

On Thursday evening after I did Byte This!, Dr. Tom Prichard gave me a
call so we could catch up on what has been going on in both our lives.
While we were on the phone, Dr. Tom received another phone call, and I
sat there for about five minutes as he spoke with the other caller.
When he came back, I knew that something terrible had happened, but I
just wasn't sure what it was. He had just come to find out that
another one of our colleagues had passed away. As most of you know by
now, Crash Holly was found dead in Florida at a fellow wrestler's
house. Tom and I both sat there kind of stunned and then reminisced a
little bit about Crash's time spent with WWE. It was kind of strange
because only a couple of weeks ago, I was thinking to myself,
wondering what he was up to since leaving WWE. I reminded Doc about
the time when we did one of the dojos (these were the training camps
in which a bunch of us gained added experience before we made our
debuts in WWE) and Crash and I had a match against each other. At the
time, he had been working the independent circuit and he was wrestling
as some sort of leprechaun.

I remember the promos that we cut on each other and how much fun it
was being in there with a much smaller guy who ran circles around me
and made me look quite foolish in the match. Of course, in the end I
ended up getting suckered into a wrong move and lost with a quick
1-2-3. I always considered him a friend, and I know just like everyone
else that has had to deal with these losses, that we wish that they
would just not happen. He will be truly missed, and I am hoping and
praying that I don't have to reminisce in any of my articles for a
long time to come. I hope that all of you will keep his family in your
thoughts and prayers.
Keep the e-mails coming!

Until next week ...

Droz -- Peace
