I mean, he's at the league average in his yards and TD receptions. There's 32 teams... 3 WR's a team, making 50 about the 'average', right? > Numbers don't always tell the entire story. His numbers are > dramatically down, but to judge them off one category, then say their > are 50 players _just_ like him? Interesting. Well, touchdowns are by far the most important thing a big time widereceiver does. If he can't get into the endzone, he's worthless. Might as well run the frickin' ball. The pass is by definition, a big play. Keyshawn is by far, not a big time player. His production being down is also the main issue. You said the Bucs shouldn't have deactivated him. Now, if this was the same Keyshawn that was on the Jets? I'd be more inclined to agree, because _that_ Keyshawn was one of the top 10 WR's in the league. But we're not talking about the Jets cutting him... we're talking about the Bucs. To that I say, what in the blue hell did he do his entire time in Tamapa that makes him a neccessity to that team? Like I said, he's at league average at best. The sumbitch can't catch a touchdown pass... he constantly bickers he doesn't get the ball enough, yet when he got is thrown his way 106 times [+ drops], the fucker still couldn't score. Four years ago, you had an argument... now, Keyshawn just isn't an elite WR. Liek Greg stated... Joey Galloway is the definiton of an 'average' WR'er and him and Keyshawn mirror one another. > > When your own teammates come out and say the team would be better off > > without you, then there's more to it than him 'just wanting to win'. > > Can't argue with what they said, I have my opinion, they have theirs. You have to agree that their opinion outweighs both of our's. I mean, they know the full story. We don't. I'm more inclined to agree with the concensus out of the Tampa camp than one, historically, big mouthed WR'er on a stranded island. That's just me. > > He slept at meetings. Disregarded curfew. Eh, Tampa still has playoff hopes. They're fading fast, but they've still got a chance, I don't beleive Keyshawn was the entire problem in Tampa... but, from word out of there, he was part of it. Why not cut bait as soon as possible and try to right the ship? I know it takes more than one guy to make a trainwreck out of the defending Superbowl champs... and I don't agree with those that beleive Keyshawn was the entire problem. However, I think it's been well documented [even before he was cut] that he was just a flat out troublemaker. One that was bringing the team down with him... I say the sooner, the better in regards to getting rid of him. If they did anything wrong, it was not trading him before the week 8 deadline if they knew he was going to be outta Tampa. That much I could agree with ya on. > > I'm no Tampa fan. I'm no Gruden fan. They take his > lack of touchdowns, and tell you that he fucking blows. I'm one of those people. Keenan McCardell isn't an elite WR... and even he's better than Keyshawn. > I recall when > David LeFleur had 8 TD's one year...Lordy B! Woo! Where's that fucking > douche now? I don't know. We're not talking one year... we're talking consistency, anyways. I didn't qoute one year, we're talking several years where Keyshawn has ben merely average. I mean, if you want to dig back 5-6 years in time, sure, he was one of the, eh... top 15 WR'ers in the league. Bue we're not talking about that Keyshawn. The NFL is one of the most 'what have you done for me lately' businesses around. From a Christian Okoye to a Christian Who? To a Don Majkowski to a Don Who? Keyshawn has fallen from that pedastal as one of the better WR'ers in the league and is now, simply average. > Just saying that one statistical category cannot truly > determine a player's worth. Ok then, what would be a fair assessment? The guy wants the ball more? How about I hand it to him 105 times -- now, what's he gonna do with it? Ok, he wants it thrown deep to him? How about I make him my goto guy like he was in 2001... what's he gonna do with it? The guy has had every condition in his favor and he doesn't produce touchdowns, the single most important thing in football. If the guy only caught the ball 50 times in a season and scored twice, I could say... well, maybe he needs the ball more. But he can be judged on his paydirt output, because he _DOES_ get the ball and he _DOES_ get it near and in the endzone and he can't come up with the big play. He has no excuse for not coming up with 10-12 TD's a year and proving he's this 'elite WR'er' he thinks he is. I think I'm done repeating myself. Actually nice to be debating on RSPWF again. ;) Jase
