we've all heard of the 1988 Jamaican Bobsled team...how much of the
movie Cool Runnings is based on fact?   I know the names of the
sledders are different...

Was the inspiration based on the driver's failure to qualify in
sprinting?

Was their coach really a disgraced ex-bobsledder who had lost his
medals?

Did they really do as well as they did in the movie (sans crash)?

Was the crash really the result of a faulty sled, or just a mistake in
driving?

Did they really go to the Olympics without the support of their
country (in the movie, the head of the games there wouldn't sponsor
them)?
