Tom, Don't mean to butt-in here BUT........ My advise would be to go spectate a while first. I don't know about your area, but around here things are extremely competitive. Most people start out with a KT Kart similar to what Bill O describes and work their way up to shiftys. I was thinking about driving it until I saw a guy slide about 50 feet upside down on his helmet and get hauled off in the meat wagon. SCREW THIS says me!
