Compliant elastic reactions (spring reactions) do not "absorb" force or
thrust.  They simply pass it on while allowing for deflection.  Force on one
end of a spring equals the force on the other end (be it compression or
tension).

This is Physics and/or Engineering 101.  So much for your "Engineering
Degree".
