I just brought my 99 GTX into the dealer for winterization. The thing has run less than perfect all summer, at least it ran poorly after having it tuned in the spring. The machine has a definate smell of gas now and seemed like it was running rich. Now the dealer delivered it in the spring and we tied it to my dock, a few hours later it was sunk, they had forgot the plugs, someone came out and floated the rig and cleaned out the engine. Anyway it seemed OK but never ran very well after that, hard starting when warm. But ran well most of the time. I did notice about a 3-4mph reduction in speed this year over last which I attributed to it running rich and the smell of gas.. OK, so anyway the dealer has the boat for about 1.5 hrs and they call and tell me the machine has been winterized, they found and plugged a leak on the fin I had complained about and Oh, by the way you have two scored pistons.......So I ask first if they did a compression test or a leak down test, no to both, buy then how the hell do they know the pistons are scored?!? Is there some magic 10 minute exam that can reveal this that I know nothing about?!..... I ask how they know as they didn't have time to remove cylinders or even the heads! They stumble and say errr.... well, you'll have to ask the mechanic as he wrote it down. What gives? Mike
