Carter was getting props prior to the Limbaugh fiasco, so I don't think
that's it at all.  I think it's more a long the lines of giving a winning
QB too much credit.  Just like a pitcher in MLB with a 5+ ERA is propped
if he has a winning record.  Or back to football, like when white QB
Trend Dilfer got too much credit for Baltimore's success the year they
won the Super Bowl.  (Any credit would have been too much.)
