I would prefer coaches not to push kids into it for the same reason I'd not do it myself as a parent. So, I'd rather the idea came from the kid than from the coach. With that said, the source of the suggestion isn't as important as the qualifications of the kid in each case. If the coach is suggesting it to kids who are easily qualified to handle the transition early, then it's not a huge deal.
