There is NOTHING great about Brisbane at all. Their three premierships will always be tainted. By rigging the competition in order to sell the game to Queensland, the AFL has created a monster ... an ugly steroid-enhanced monster that is killing the game. The complete artificiality of Brisbane's dominance of football is easily illustrated by this simple hypothetical scenario. Imagine if the draft was suddenly abolished and, from here on, players had to be recruited from their own geographical area. Collingwood could only recruit from the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Brisbane could only recruit from the state of Queensland (and maybe northern N.S.W, just to give them a chance) How well do you think Brisbane would go? I guarantee that as soon as their current list passed its use-by date & won 5 or 6 tainted flags, they would be wooden spooners ... PERMANENT wooden spooners ... Because after 3 rigged premiership the entire state of Queensland ... with northern N.S.W thrown in for good measure ... is STILL not capable of producing an AFL team. They are a disgrace. They do not belong in the AFL. Collingwood, on the other hand, would be a very strong club if it had exclusive access to just the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Even though the population of this area would only be a tiny fraction of the population of the state of Queensland (and northern NSW) we would still produce a team that would kick the living brains out of Brisbane every year for as long as football is played. Even if we had no chance of recruiting players from anywhere else in Australia, just the talent produced in this predominantly Collingwood-supporting area of Melbourne would be enough to keep us at or near the top of the ladder forever. The reason is simple. COLLINGWOOD IS FOOTBALL. BRISBANE IS NOT. Brisbane gets nothing but contempt from me. No respect whatsoever, because they've done NOTHING to warrant it. I will "acknowledge Brisbane's greatness" when Brisbane becomes great. Let me know when this happens, because after 17 years in the AFL, the Brisbane Football Club has achieved precisely jack shit.
