The Canadian rule has been changed this year to
bring it into alignment with the rest of the world.
From the CCA website:
Hogline Rule
The CCA has also agreed to revert back to the previous hogline rule which states: "in the delivery of a stone, the stone shall be released before the stone has reached the nearer hogline." This change to the hogline rule will ultimately result in players having to release the stone approximately 14 inches sooner than the past three years The interpretation is that the player must
completely and clearly release the rock prior to the rock's leading edge
crossing the plane of the first edge of the hog line, and no part any player's
body or equipment may come in contact with the stone after that
point.
