Re: Gavaskar in brilliant form..........

BTW, I wonder what Rohan's average is, while playing for India-A - it must be
pretty ridiculously high. The one against Pakistan was a not out (115*), and in
addition to the 3 tons you mentioned, he also has a 4th ton in England this
summer against Notts that took India-A to a victory (a terrific innings in a
rain-affected game. Notts 265/3 first day, 2nd day washed out, Notts got 339/5
declared on the 3rd morning, and both sides forfeited their innings. This left
India-A 340 to win in about 70 overs, and Rohan got 139* in 181 balls with 17
fours and 4 sixes, to guide India-A to 341/3 in 68 overs for the win).

That makes at least 4 tons while batting for India-A, a quite remarkable
number. And with 2 of them not outs. The average must really be pretty high.

No, didnt read that - you dont happen to know when it was, do you? Paul really
hadnt done anything in Ranjis until this season, and then suddenly he's gone
crazy this year - though I still think thats partly because nobody else is
capable of taking wickets for Bengal, so he ends up not sharing at all.
Yesterday was an example - Assam were 101/5 early with 3 for Paul, and then
nobody got any wickets at all, and Assam went to 282/5. Paul got hit a bit too,
going for over 4/over all day long. Then a wicket fell and when the new man
came in, and he came back at the end and got the next 2 wickets quickly in the
last over of the day. Eventually ended 5/89 in 21 overs, a terrific days work -
but he was going for 4/over yesterday, and a good bowling side would have had
Assam allout by now and Bengal in control, with Paul individually ending about
3/70 or so. Instead Assam is 40 runs ahead at 288/8, and Paul has a chance for
another couple of wickets tomorrow morning too - which is great for him, but a
bowling attack capable of supporting Paul and getting wickets would be far
better for Bengal's cause this season.

Sadiq [ this is what, 4 5-fers for Paul in 4 matches? ] Yusuf
