The debate I had with him was over Ganguly's choice of words over Kumble, which then went into why Karthik should have been picked over Kumble, and then turned into a search for performances for Karthik. The only arguments I remember from him were that Kumble was bad four years ago, Kumble was bad abroad, and that Karthik was good in ODIs at home. Further boosted by purported weakness against LAS in the Aussies based on Price and Vettori. Kumble's performance in India's last overseas win seemed to be less important than what Karthik had done a couple years ago in RSA, and Karthik's performance in England was a non-issue because he did not take wickets. -- Shripathi Kamath
