First of all, Quarry was not a "fringe contender".  That said, Quarry failed
to overcome Jimmy Ellis when Jerry fought for a vacant title.  Even in
getting to the title bout, it was disputed whether he even beat Floyd
Patteson.

Lewis would have killed Quarry.
