Sorry for standing you all up at Coronation Billiards on Saturday and delaying the start of the tournament. Here's how it didn't happen. Jacquie and I flew back to Canada from Heathrow on November 25, a Tuesday. On Thursday evening in London ON, 2 days later, I consumed almost 6 Old Speckled Hens. Probably two Hens too many for me, but more importantly resulted in a cold/flu bug settling in and subsequently trying to kill me. >From Friday at supper time till Sunday at noon, I slept more than a cat. First the shivers, then the sweats, then repeat. I hate walking up in the night in a soaking wet bed with stuffed up and pounding sinuses and a throat tickle. I was a sad fucking sight to be sure. Dad was looking forward to a get away as was my Jacquie who had decided to play in her first GWN 9 ball tournament. There was a snow storm, but if I hadn't been such a weanie, as Jacquie put it, we would have been there. Driving in a snow storm is nothing when you've done it your whole life. Rob did have to work. The last time I was awake when a phone call might have been useful I think I assumed because of the wind whipped snow in Barrie that the tourney would be cancelled. I could have called Coronation as a precaution, but I saw my shadow and crawled back to bed to look for a dry spot. Sorry folks. I really wanted to be there, but sideways is sideways. I lugged a digital video camera everywhere we went in Europe and I was anticipating getting some great GWN footage to properly finish off the trip, but alas, poor Yorick was kicked in the head by the donkey and eaten by the rats. -- Protection Island Bruce (safe at home, but still coughing and wheezing)
