The only real downside has been that I tend to put more sidespin on the CB just because I can (due, I suppose, to being able to more reliably hit farther from center and to more reliably hit the contact point because of less squirt) and because it's fun. It's a struggle to play as conservatively as before, even though I know I should.

Pat... but as a rule do you think it's best to be conservative?

I was only talking about using too much spin. What do you mean by "be conservative"? I suppose the answer is in the risk/reward equation: you gain by "stretching" yourself in competition (as well as in practice), but you might lose the competition as a result. You gotta do it sometime, but you can choose the time.
