Some people believe there is "throw" between the cue ball and object ball, and the surface condition of the cue ball (rough, sticky, smooth, slippery) can change the amount of throw. A sticky cue ball will also lose its draw very quickly as it moves across the table. I think that if you shoot hard, short draw shots with both cue balls, the results will be pretty close.
