Sue Bird had knee surgery since the end of the WNBA Season and is in rehab. That may have been a factor in her not being chosen for the core group. Things could change in the next several months before the Olympics. Not to sound too chavinistic or arrogant, but, the United States is so dominant in Woman's basketball, with a National team so much better than any other national team that it would be a major upset for the U.S. to lose any game in the Olympics. Any of at least two dozen players would be fine for the U.S. Olympic team. Lisa Leslie is the only player I would rate as "must go" for the U.S. National Team.
