"The Detroit Tigers have offered Fernando Vina a two-year contract to become
the team's second baseman.

'He's someone we are pursuing, yes," Dave Dombrowski, the Tigers' president
and general manager told The Detroit News. "He's the type of solid performer
we are interested in.'
...

For the faltering Tigers, who lost 119 games last season, Vina would be a
solid addition.

But Detroit has other options for the position, including Todd Walker, Mark
Grudzielanek, Roberto Alomar, Ronnie Belliard and Eric Young."

Yep, any of those guys would be the final piece in the puzzle for the
Tigers. Probably take them all the way from 119 losses to, oh, I don't
know, a mere 117 or so.

I hope my Cardinals end up with a draft pick out of the Vina signing.
