I don't know. It could be awfully convincing. If Bonds has been fairly consistent in his HR/FB for his whole career, then a change in his FB/GB is a sensible explanation for his improved HR rate. Of course that doesn't rule out the possbility that increased strength (from legitimate or illegitimate means of improving his strength) is the ultimate cause. It's possible, for instance, that he's only effective with his current swing because he's stronger than he used to be.
