The D-Backs have a lot of deferred salary owed to Schilling, Gonzalez, Johnson and even Stottlemyre. However, what's been earned while with the D-Backs is still owed by the D-Backs. So the last three seasons' worth of deferrals are still owed to Schilling by the D-Backs, even if they trade him. This is the main reason why the D-Backs are looking to lower their payroll for the next few seasons. The bills for the World Series trophy are coming due, and they don't have enough revenue to pay off the deferrals and maintain their current salary levels. --Paul ** Note "removemunged" in email address and remove to reply. **
