Re: Marathon question

> 1. What motivated you to start running marathons?

I thought it would be a good challenge for me, hadn't done anything
challenging, except for work, in a while. I had only been running
consitantly for a couple of years and just told my self as a News Years
Resolution that I would run a marathon. 11 months later I did.

The challenge, the competition, the fact that running makes me feel great.
I feel like shit if I don't run regularly. I did a 2nd marathon to compete
against myself. I know I can't win one, but I can try to become faster by
training hard and pushing my self to limits I thought were impossible.

The training and competition (within myself) gives me an edge that has been
absent since high school, confidence, and it strokes my ego ("I can do
anything I want" type of feeling). The high after a marathon is better than
any other drug I did while in college.

I don't feel normal if I don't run, and running Marathons is the pennicle of
running for me.
