So let me get this straight, as it involves a part of the Premier story
that I'm not familiar with...
Someone familiar with the Story story please evaluate the following:
Gary Story was the GM at Frontier City when Tierco bought it.
In other words, Gary Story may have been directly responsible for
preventing Tierco from shutting down Frontier City and giving it the
Palisades Park/Euclid Beach/Riverview Park/Pike treatment.
===
For reference, the Six Flags saga is something like this:
Tierco, a real estate company, buys Frontier City in the normal course of
business, with the intention of shutting it down after its current season
of operation in order to redevelop the site.
During the season, Tierco discovers that amusement parks are not only more
fun than real estate, they can also be profitable.
Almost experimentally, Tierco buys the troubled Wild World amusement park.
Tierco changes the name of the park to Adventure World and makes big
improvements.
Tierco sells off its real estate operation and changes its name to Premier
Parks.
Premier Parks buys a couple of water parks in California.
Premier Parks buys Elitch Gardens
Premier Parks buys The Great Escape
Premier Parks buys Kentucky Kingdom
Premier Parks buys FunTime, which includes Geauga Lake, Wyandot Lake, and
Darien Lake
Premier Parks buys Riverside (and New England goes wild!)
Premier Parks buys the Walibi Group and becomes an international amusement
park operator
Premier Parks buys La Ronde
Premier Parks is hired by the park owners to manage Six Flags over Texas
Time/Warner objects to this arrangement and makes a counter-offer
Premier Parks loses the management contract for SFOT
Premier Parks surprises everyone and buys all of Six Flags for
$1,900,000,000 that it doesn't have
Premier Parks attaches the Six Flags name to Kentucky Kingdom
Premier Parks changes its name to Six Flags
Six Flags re-brands Elitch Gardens
Six Flags renames and re-brands Adventure World
Six Flags renames and re-brands Geauga Lake
Six Flags buys Sea World of Ohio
Six Flags goes into a debt-fueled death spiral
Gary Story, who has been with the company since Tierco bought his park(?)
resigns from Six Flags
