[message to all here] What amazes me is the shortsightedness of Republican voters. Even if one believes George Bush, Tom Ridge (head of Homeland Security), and others are absolute angels that would never abuse these powers, one should realize those powers have also been handed to Democrats and anyone else who manages to get themselves elected to office in the future. How will those people, and future Republican office holders, use those powers down the road? Can we ever be assured such massive powers will never be abused? Sadly, Republican voters don't seem to realize this - which is why I use every opportunity to point it out (hopefully others will too). Bush, Tom Ridge, and others, are going to seek more powers in the future. They're certainly not going to stop now. If Bush will not stop this grab for power, he needs to be out of that office. The same with those in the House and Senate that voted to allow it. All Americans (Republicans, Democrats, and others) will be affected and all must join together to stop it. When that is finished, we can then work to roll back those powers (if successful, look for this in future candidates). Dwight Stewart (W5NET) http://www.qsl.net/w5net/
