The only way to be sure a resistor is correctly sized for pulse power ratings is to consult the manufacturer. Doing a bench test may be valid for that particular resistor, but manufacturers are free to make changes in the way they make a resistor, and unless they specify pulse ratings, those changes may invalidate your testing. Having said that, I would agree that for Amateur Radio purposes you might get away with it, but bench qualification like this is shoddy engineering. -- Bill, W6WRT
