It makes perfect sense to run auctions as often as possible, but no sense at all
to bid in one.

It takes but a moment's thought to see that your potential profit if bidding
against sensible people is maybe 50c, and your potential loss if bidding against
normal humans is around $19.50, more if you're not sensible yourself.

I wonder if it's legal to run auctions like this?

Ebay should have an option to have this sort of rule :>
