Actually, if one alters the original problem such that it is a *given* 
that such a machine (the MRI-intention-reader) exists, a logical mind 
might be willing to take the flogging at 7:29 simply to avoid any 
possible temporal disasters that might arise from contradicting the 
machine's findings. Forget the $1M, I just don't want to wink out of 
existence.
