The objection was raised against Brit as a noun, not British as an
adjective. Personally I don't take offence at Brit, but if you prefer,
you may refer to us as 'Her Majesty's subjects' :-)
(Yes, I know there are non-UK citizens who are HM subjects, and
Britain != UK)
