"Jim Waggener" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> apparently said: >Can you use any lens hood that will screw onto a 150mm for 4x5 work? The best lens shade is a compendium, which is adjustable. You normally adjust the compendium so it is *_just_* out of the image area, IOW so it blocks everything that isn't going on the film. "Any" lens hood might be fairly good, or it might do a terrible job. OTOH, as long as the hood doesn't vignette the image, it's going to be better than nothing. As Steve mentioned, you can use the darkslide (or your hand, your hat, whatever) to block a specific off-image light source -- such as the sun -- from hitting the lens. The risk there, of course, getting the darkslide in the image, though I haven't found that to be hard to avoid.
