There are lots of people who call themselves trainers, but if you start with the organization she mentioned you'll have better luck. This dog needs to be retrained out of total protection mode. He lived with one person who probably didn't discourage him from being protective of the house or her and you're reaping the fruits of that association. Not to mention that the dog is not used to living with or answering to more than one person. No 6 month old puppy should be acting like this. And dogs that are from breeds that are naturally protective need good training - consistent positive training - which doesn't consist of yelling and yanking on a choke chain. Since this dog wasn't taught the rules he made up his own. GSDs are very smart, thinking dogs. You need to find someone to enlist that intelligence toward good behavior. Everyone in the house will have to treat the dog by the same rules. It won't take as long as you think to turn things around. Dogs live 12-15 years. A few months dedicated to training a dog to live peacefully and happily in your house is not that much time, but will reap huge benefits. Good luck to you. buglady take out the dog before replying
